About Alena

I am an enthusiastic, caring and friendly experienced teacher, tutor and mental health mentor offering online 1:1 tuition from anywhere, as well as face-to-face 1:1 tuition to learners from Year 5 through to adult learners in the Poole area.

I hold a PGCE teaching qualification, as well as psychology and tourism qualifications, and I have over six years of experience supporting students with academic skills, confidence and personal development. I have worked with learners of different ages, abilities and learning needs, including students with complex needs, gifted and talented learners, and students who may need extra encouragement to believe in their capabilities and strengths.

My teaching is student-centred, supportive and tailored to each learner’s individual needs, interests and goals. I support students with subjects such as Psychology, Business Studies and Academic Writing at GCSE, A-Level and university level, as well as helping learners develop study skills, essay structure, assignment planning and confidence.

I am passionate about creating a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and celebrating their progress. I believe students perform best when they feel happy, supported, capable and aware of their strengths. My aim is to help each learner recognise both their areas for improvement and their unique qualities, while building confidence, independence and lifelong learning skills.

I offer flexible availability during the daytime, evenings and school holidays, for both short-term and long-term support. Lessons are available face-to-face in the Poole area and online from anywhere. Please contact me for enquiries and bookings. I look forward to working with you soon.

I take time to understand each student’s strengths, challenges, confidence level and goals, so the support feels personal, calm and purposeful. As a result, my approach combines clear academic teaching with mentoring and encouragement. I help learners not only understand the subject, but also build confidence, independence, study skills and belief in their own ability. To make learning more manageable, I break tasks down into small, achievable steps so students can understand difficult topics more clearly, reduce overwhelm and make steady progress.
